Leo Koziol of the Wairoa Māori Film Festival and Waru producer Kerry Warkia have curated a special collection of eight short films made by the women who directed Waru. Waru is a landmark internationally acclaimed film proudly directed by eight Māori women.
This year we mark the 125th year of women’s suffrage in New Zealand. Join us for this celebration of Māori women in film. The programme includes films such as Butterfly (Director Renae Maihi), This Is Her (Director Katie Wolfe), Mokopuna (Director Ainsley Gardiner) and Nine of Hearts (Director Briar Grace-Smith).
The films will be screened in the AV Gallery, free with gallery entry. Limited seats. This event is part of the Matariki Festival.
